Retrofoam of Canada
by admin ~ August 9th, 2009. Filed under: Spray Foam Insulation. So here’s the story. In 2007 Paul Weigel obtained distribution rights to sell Retrofoam in Canada, and began installing the spray foam insulation in older homes in Ontario, Canada. However, Retrofoam contains urea formaldehyde, a chemical compound banned by Health Canada in 1980, and deemed as a hazardous product.
A few months ago, hundreds of homeowners that had Retrofoam installed were invited by Health Canada to have air quality tests done in their homes. The results have yet to be released, and another round of testing is due this summer.
It will be interesting to see what the results are. Especially since this stuff is still being sold in the States.
There is a class action suit underway.
